Ce qu’en dit l’éditeur
This first volume of the Complete Works of Vita Sackville-West presents a captivating selection that reveals the full range of her literary genius — from the lyrical beauty of her poetry to the sharp observation and elegance of her prose. In The Land and King’s Daughter, Sackville-West’s verse celebrates nature, heritage, and the rhythms of English life with precision and grandeur. The Edwardians, her celebrated novel, paints a glittering yet melancholy portrait of a fading aristocratic world. Andrew Marvell reflects her skill as a biographer, blending scholarship with sympathy, while Passenger to Teheran offers a vivid and personal travel narrative that bridges cultures and continents. Together, these works illuminate the wit, intellect, and emotional depth of a writer who stood at the crossroads of tradition and modernity — a voice both deeply English and unmistakably individual. Contents: • Poetry: - Constantinople (1915) - Poems of West & East (1917) - Orchard and Vineyard (1921) - The Land (1926) - King’s Daughter (1929) • Novels: - Heritage (1919) - The Dragon in Shallow Waters (1920) - Challenge (1920) - Grey Wethers (1923) - The Edwardians (1930) • Biographies: - Andrew Marvell (1929) • Guides: - Knole and the Sackvilles (1922) - Passenger to Teheran (1926) - Twelve Days (1928)
Biographie
