Faute d'accomplir la séparation, on manque, par complaisance dans la plainte sur des motifs de souffrir qui, au fond, nous sont chers, le plaisir de souffrir. Mais l'on manque aussi, en voulant se dérober à des souffrances inévitables, le lien essentiel qui unit le courage d'affronter la douleur à l'événement de la joie - à la seule possibilité d'un rapport au monde entièrement vivant.
